A Brief History…… Situated on the Potomac about ten miles to the west of Hancock is a huge game conservationpreserve of about 8,000 acres with a massive lodge that was known as the “Hunting Club ofthe Presidents.” A large rocking chair at the lodge has been occupied by Presidents JamesGarfield, Chester Authur, Grover Cleveland, Benjamin Harrison, Herbert Hoover, andFranklin Delano Roosevelt. Organized in 1870 as a private hunting club, it was frequentedby “Who’s Who” of American government, leaders of twentieth century industry andnotables such as Babe Ruth and Amos & Andy of radio fame.
ROUGH ITINERARY Thursday, 3/29 1pm: Shoot’n (sporting clays, skeet or trap) 4pm: Return to Lodge and check an 5pm: Drink’n, lie’n and tall tales ‘bout what you shot 7pm: Dinner (BYOFood if you practice veganism) 8pm: Awards Ceremonies (should anything happ’n worthy of an award) 8:30pm: More Drink’n, even bigger tall tales, poker, or, if you prefer, sleep Friday, 3/30 7:30am: Breakfast 8:30am: More Shoot’n 12pm: Return to lodge / lunch 1pm: Departure
Directions and Other Info: Take I70 West to Hancock, MD.At Hancock follow signs to Interstate 68 West toward Cumberland. Go to Exit 77 (Woodmont Road). Turn left at top of exit, cross interstate bridge to stop sign. Turn left at stop sign and proceed a short distance and turn right onto Woodmont Road. Go approximately 5-6 miles to sign on left for Woodmont Rod and Gun Club. Turn left onto the gravel road and go approximately one (1) mile to the Lodge.

NOTE: Woodmont will provide you with 12 or 20 gauge shells. Most hunters use a 12 gauge gun. Woodmont no longer permits Automatic or Pump Shot Guns. You do not need to get a hunting license in advance if you plan to hunt birds.
